A doctor once told me that one of the features of Lewy Body Dementia is that the demarcation between sleep and wakefulness becomes fluid and it can be difficult to tell whether the patient is asleep or awake.
Tonight, Gary has been having nightmares. I'm not sure about what, exactly, but I have twice been awakened by his shrieking. But when I woke him, the nightmare continued. I'm not sure if he was not really asleep and was just hallucinating or if somehow the nightmare just continues as a hallucination when he wakes up.
He is incredibly frustrated about this and told me I just don't understand what it's like to live trapped in a nightmare.
I beg to differ.
